LYNCHBURG, Va. (March 2, 2025), The Chicology Project, a local up-cycled clothing nonprofit, has stated that an employee was injured and products were damaged in a fire that broke out next to their warehouse. Authorities responded to the fire on March 1 at 11:55 a.m. and quickly extinguished it.

Lucie Hoffmans, The Chicology Project Director, stated this morning, “This fire outbreak has not only affected us but also our entire community. Our first priority is to help those who are directly affected by this tragic incident, including the neighboring restaurant whose business was destroyed and the individual currently recovering from their injuries. With that said, we are incredibly thankful for the immediate response of fire safety officials, which significantly reduced potential damage.”

An investigation was launched by authorities immediately. There have been allegations that The Chicology Project did not have proper fire safety equipment.

Hoffman shared, “We take these allegations very seriously, and The Chicology Project is committed to working closely with the authorities throughout this investigation.”

In a follow-up statement on their social media platform, The Chicology Project stated, “For anyone interested in staying up to date with the investigation and ongoing repairs for those affected, we will continue to provide updates on our website and social media channels.”
